Locations

A location is a physical point on the ground at an event: an aid station, a transition zone, a checkpoint... This is where material must be delivered.

Features

  • Name and short code for the location.
  • Geographic position (latitude/longitude), useful for planning distribution routes — entered manually on the record, or positioned with the mouse from the map view (see below).
  • Vehicle accessibility: free, authorized, or by accreditation.
  • Optional attachment to a sector — a location can be shared between several sectors, or dedicated to a single one.
  • Active or hidden status: a hidden location is no longer offered in new request lines, without losing its history.

Map view

From the location list, the Map button opens a ground plan (OpenStreetMap base map) on which each already-positioned location appears as a marker. Locations without coordinates wait in a "to position" bin: simply drag their pin onto the map to give them a position, or move an existing marker to correct it. This view replaces manual latitude/longitude entry for those who prefer positioning by gesture rather than by number.

A ground coverage banner, above the list, summarizes what remains to be done for the edition to be ready on the ground: total number of locations (active/hidden), number still to be positioned (without coordinates, and therefore absent from the map and routes), and number by accreditation (vehicle access to anticipate).

Where to find it

Locations are specific to an event (an edition) and are managed from the Logistics space. They are then offered in request forms: every request line must specify a delivery location, TriLog rejects any line without a location.

Bulk import

To create or update a large number of locations at once, an import from an Excel/CSV file is available in the Admin space, for a given event: name, code, sector, vehicle access, coordinates, and status can all be filled in at once. Day-to-day management (record by record) stays in the Logistics space. See the bulk import tutorial.
