Returns

After the event, distributed material must be returned to the depot. The Returns module lets you compare, for each line, the planned quantity, the actually returned quantity, and the missing quantity.

Life cycle

StatusDescription
ScheduledReturn planned, not yet started
In progressMaterial collection under way
Returned compliantAll planned material has come back, in good condition
DisputeDiscrepancy found (missing, damage) — requires follow-up

Each return line can be accompanied by photos (observed damage) and a condition (compliant, damaged, missing...).

A missing item at closure forces a dispute

Observed damage always triggers a dispute. A missing item, on the other hand, only triggers a dispute when the return is closed: if, upon closing, some material remains neither returned nor damaged, the return automatically moves to Dispute — even if the rest of the material is perfectly compliant. On a partial return (see below), a missing item does not trigger a dispute: it's normal for some material to remain to be collected on a future return.

Partial return or closure?

A return can be recorded in several stages. Two options are offered when entering it:

  • Partial return — records what comes back today; the unreturned balance stays open and can be handled on a future return. Nothing is declared lost.
  • Close the return — to be used for an order's final return: any balance still missing after this entry is declared lost (and triggers a dispute, as noted above).

A return linked to an order can thus be spread across several partial-return entries, until logistics permanently closes the file.

Cancelling a return finalized by mistake

A return already Returned compliant or in Dispute status can be "un-finalized" via the Cancel finalization action: material counted as returned, broken, or lost goes back into stock (a reversal — the original movement remains visible in the history, never deleted) and the return reverts to In progress, editable again. The linked order can then revert to an earlier status. Once finalized, however, a return can no longer be deleted: only this finalization cancellation allows reverting.
